I am the world's best at getting 3 of 4 in the Super Box. I've done it hundreds of times. All it takes is one horse over performing his PP's, or one horse underperforming his PP's. That happens A LOT. And the horses can never explain what happened.

I disagree with you when it comes to longshots. I bet win, place and show at odds of 10-1 or more. If your horse places or shows you can not only get your money back but if it places tou can often double or triple your money back.

You are using Belmont Park statistics on your broadcast. The Belmont stakes will be run at 1 1/4 distance not a 1 1/2. The post position draw is irrelevant to this years Belmont. Just a heads up.

It depends on what you think the winning percentage of the horse is,if you think the horse has 70% chance of winning,that means it has a 30% chance of losing,you can go as short as even money

Also: win bet on long shot and exacta on favorite bets on* 7 horse+ race , that's a gamble, but if u win an exacta, u may win your bet back (or) not

You want to win money ?? Just Place at least 4 to 5 win bets on long shots on a single race. And also, place long shots _ I do this. I win, I lose, I win, I lose however, those favorite horses seem to win most the time, and u lose even if u bet on a favorite

Another fabulous spot is when a layoff horse just misses, comes right back within a week at a higher class. The rise in class preserves the price.

These were some of my favorite spot plays. I would look for a horse that was laid off 30 days or more. However, a 30 day breather is commonplace now - especially at major tracks. Plus, there are fewer racing days now, so it is harder for the trainer to find a spot. If I was still playing now I'd expand that to 45 or 60 days. The next thing I'd look for is a drop in class - especially in claiming races. I wanted to trainer to risk something to show me that it wasn't just a tune up. Then, I would actually look for no workouts. That might indicate that the trainer was working the horse on a private track. You won't see that much anymore. So the steady work pattern is the next best thing. But I don't want to see blowout works that leave his race on the behind him. I would also look for another kind of change. It could be a claim where he was jailed and dropped, a shipper, distance, surface or equipment change etc. The only thing I didn't like was a turn back for a router. That signals a tune up. Then. I'd need to get 6-1 or better. But most importantly, it had to show action on the board. If the ML was 10-1 and it dropped to 6-1, that is the kind of sign I'm talking about. Usually, that kind of action would scare people off and the horse would go off higher than the ML.

I would advise new horse players to stick to win only. Place and Show betting has it's place but requires more of an advanced understanding of racing. For example: An odds on favorite should be bet to place rather than win. In the long run., it actually shows a profit, but it is an awful grind. Similarly, there are horses who run second an excessive amount of the time. Some say that they just like to run with other horses. However, I've discovered that their connections do this intentionally, just so they can run the bag out there every week and collect a check. If the horse won, they'd have to advance him through conditions. I would advise newbie to avoid the exacta in favor of the double. The track take on exactas are usually higher, and there are so many ways to waste money on exactas by boxing and wheeling, that they best hold off on that until they're a little more ready.

I feel like UK jumps racing there is a place for each way bets if you are specifically betting cause you think its a top 3 horse in the race on form. A 20/1 place is a 4/1 win at the end of the day.

Right now, DMR is open for meet 2. In the 2 year old cycle a trainer has a chance to be running a lot of 2 year old entries.. Those horses will need training prior to the 'big day' in May. So, as you watch the DMR meets, in July to September, notice that a common distance if 5.5f maiden (msw) races. Maybe that is a good distance for the age of the horse at that time. Come November, the 2yo horses are more grown up. And at this time, there is higher likelihood of the horses displaying good ability in the longer races, for example 1 mile, or for sprint, 6f. In such a case, it is worth being aware as a handicapper it is best to be aligned with what the trainers are presently doing. The 5.5f distance may be far less targeted in November than in July or August. And the 1mile may be simply be too far for the horse to go in July. As such the handicapper can contrast optimal distance with season during the 2 year old cycle.

This weekend something quite similar happened to me, I'm still angry at myself! There were two longshots, each of them going off at around 25. One of them was the more logical horse which had a history of winning at the distance, but it seemed that it had gone off form in the last weeks. The other one, its name was Safaga, had never won, but finished second and third a few times, especially on sloppy ground which was also the case that day. It also didn't look good in the walking ring. When I was standing at the window I still hadn't decided between the two of them but finally picked the first horse, because it seemed like the safer option. God, how much I regret it now! Of course, Safaga won. Everybody was extremely surprised and even an hour after the race I still heard people talking about her win and how little they saw it coming. I only had one thought in my had all the time: I KNEW IT, I PICKED HER!!! What did I learn? 1. I will always trust my feeling, even if it doesn't feel logical. 2. If I can't decide between two horses at very high prices, I will just bet both!

Very interesting history~! Thanks for sharing it. I was a member of Jay Nehf's breeding club, a brief part-owner in a filly from Chalky (2001, IRE) out of Beautiful Hill by Canford Cliffs. Chalky was bred to I'll Have Another (2009, USA) out of Arch's Gal Edith by Flower Alley. The filly was sold to John Harris of Harris Farms in California and named Bet The Chalk. If she runs you know I'm gonna "bet the chalk" whether she's the favorite or not. LOL.
